Phew - what a month!
Well I am sure you can tell from the title of my blog I have had a very busy month, I don't know about the rest of you but it seems in my line of work that everyone is trying to quickly tie up loose ends and get everything done before the summer holidays!
I have been pulling together the mountains of infomation from the wonderful Men Behaving Dadly event which was such a brilliant day. I just loved watching (when I wasn't running around like a headless chicken sorting things out) the dads and children playing together with the Playbus equipment, helping their children at the workshops and generally having a lovely family day together. We have some lovely pictures some of which you can find on our Men Behaving Dadly feedback page.
Our discussions with the Brighton & Hove Food Partnership have progressed with a clearer picture of how we are going to find out what you the parents and carers of children in the city think about food in schools. The prize draw to win a £50 restaurant voucher for your 3 top issues continues until 7th August so please share with us your opinions. You may also want to take a look at this article on the First ever national statistics to measure school food take-up, it makes for some interesting reading. I have also been checking out the Change 4 Life website which has some good ideas on eating healthily without spending a fortune, handy I thought seeing as some of our children seem to eat us out of house and home during the holidays!
I also have been working on the bright and colourful magazine 'Parents Connected' which we send out through the schools, I hope your copy has found it's way to you, it's definitely THE publication not to be missed! If you haven't you can download a copy from here.
I am starting to get the hang of this 'Twitter' thing now as well so don't forget to sign up and follow us for updates on things that are happening over the summer. Follow us on http://twitter.com/BHParentsforum we have 229 followers so far - who will be the 230th?
Literally just yesterday I supported the parents that sit on the CYPT Board to present their annual report and update on how the Parents' Forum is doing. It went very well I think, Andrew went into his wonderful 'presentation' mode and we tried to do some justice to all the work we have done over the last 3+ years - not an easy task but I think we got the main points in. Over the summer we are all going to have a good look at what you told us in our 'How are we doing' survey and will discuss our actions and revewing our Terms of Reference at our first meeting back in September. I would also like to say a big thank you to all those who filled in the survey and offered to help us out in the future in some way by volunteering their time or skills, I will be contacting each one of you to discuss how this might be realised.
Have a lovely summer, I hope the weather improves like we have been promised, keep safe and enjoy all the activities on our events pages!
