Revision of My Play Space Consultations Begin from Thu, 25/06/2009 - 1:18pm

15th Jul 2009
The My Play Space project involves the redevelopment of 29 local area parks over the next two years and covers the 22 sites picked to receive part of the Playbuilder Grant and the 7 sites that have received other funding.

As part of the National Play strategy, Brighton and Hove won the £1.1 million grant to develop further children's play areas for the 8 - 13 age group.  These 22 parks have been split into two groups with 11 being scheduled to be completed in a year while the rest for 2010.  To find more information about where the parks are and how the decisions were made see this.

The time has come for the first round of consultations on the picked locations to start.  The first four locations are Preston Park, Saunders Park, Blakers Park and St Nicholas Gardens.  The consultations will be held at each of these locations in the next week and a half by the My Play Space Team.

If you live in the area of these Parks or use them, try to come down and bring the kids.

 All views and ideas welcome.

Preston Park, Saturday 27 June, 12 noon until 5pm.         Part of TAKEPART Day in the park.  They will be near the Playbus.

Saunders Park, Thursday 2 July, 3pm until 7pm.

St Nicholas, Saturday 4 July, 10am until 1pm.

Blakers Park, Saturday 4 July, 2pm until 6pm.

To see a map showing roughly these and other locations that are scheduled for improvements, click here.  The ones that are red are the first sites due to be completed, with the blue being the second batch done in 2010.  The ones flagged green also received funds, but from the Playbuilder Fund.  The ones with the black dot in the middle are the ones that are now being consulted about.

Groundwork Solent, the contracted designers for each of the 27 sites will be at every event, listening to the ideas and opinions of the local residents and park users before producing designs for the play areas.

If you cannot attend the event at your chosen park(s) you can also submit your views or ideas by either filling out the feedback form on the My Play Space page on the Brighton and Hove council website or email myplayspace@brighton-hove.gov.
