Climb of my life 2009

2nd Apr 2009

Having finally found a parking space and walking a short distance in my own fashion to the local hospital front entrance in time for an appointment, I notice a magazine of which I had tried over a week to get hold of. So with great excitement I pull my daughter to aid my weaker left side into the shop area. Yes, finally in my arms the long awaited copy which features a celebrity wedding. Having also picked up my favourite prawn - mayo on brown sandwich the very jovial shop attendant offers me the largest bar of chocolate the shop sells. Well how does one refuse, in return for a small gold coin?

Now elated by the thought of a magazine and chocolate, the worlds my oyster!

Having left the shop exit and peering at the large steep ramp ahead I start  my climb.

As I fumble for the handrail that doesn't even exist, I am aided by my daughter. Each footing becomes heavier and more painful. I take a deep breath to try and ease  my aching joints. As I do my mind wanders to that of a celebrity climb taking place this particular week.

In the midst of a trance like state, I feel like I am moon walking and placing my large walking boots into the already moulded steps of a deeply talented, handsome boy band front man. Just as the pain seeps too deep, this handsome fellow smiles with the most calming of facial expression.

"Mum, Mum, Mum" "Yeah" I reply. "We've got to get in the lift now".

What a few minutes they were! Holding onto the magical glimpses my brain has stored the lift arrives. In my dazed state I try and push the number 2 on the emergency telephone, whoops! "Mum, the buttons behind you".

Now back to reality we sit for over 2 hours for a 15 minute appointment.

But who am I to complain? I spent my morning with celebrities and later today, that chocolate bar is all mine.
