Coffee, Cupcakes and School Dinners

11th Nov 2009

Well it has been another busy month for me but I had to try and figure out something else to call me blog other than 'whew what a month!' I’ve had a hard time trying to a) find the time to write my blog this month, b) figure out what to write about that doesn’t involve ‘I am very busy’ and c) when I finally did write my blog I lost my first version (twice!)

Anyway this month seems to have been all about food – my favourite issue – so here’s what I’ve been up to. I have been continuing the school food issues consultation in partnership with Paul Streetly from the B&H Food Partnership. We invited some parents who were interested in this subject to a meeting to discuss the real issues and how we could work on improving them, the feedback from this meeting will be available to read on the website soon. It was a great meeting and we are very grateful to the parents that gave their own time to give us their opinions. We also met with some new parents on our second ‘come and meet us’ morning, we had fresh coffee, delicious cupcakes and even the rain didn’t keep people away! Thank you to those who came and met with us that morning it was good to meet with parents and find out about your interests and concerns.

Carrie and I have been working hard with our web developers to improve the website and we hope you are liking some of the changes, I would like to bring your attention to our new look weblinks pages and our improved events calendar. We are hoping to launch a few more changes by the new year such as being able to add your own events so we’ll keep you posted. Next week we will be at the B&H City Council’s ‘Get Involved Day’  at the Hove Town Hall, it should be a great event to profile how people can get involved in local decision making and democracy come along and say hi if you come along we will have a stall there all day. We are looking forward to our annual Christmas night out and hope you all have a great month too!
