White Night 2010
White Night marks the end of British Summer Time on October 30th and aims to present the arts in new and collaborative ways with artistic links across Europe.
Brighton Carnival Association has collaborated with two other Brighton arts organisations, Same Sky and Copperdollar, to create an installation and performance piece in New Road, Brighton, for the event which is entitled 'Through the Veil - A Marriage celebration between life and death'.
The three organisations have involved local artists in building larger than life-size puppets to lead the marriage between ‘Maria de la Muerte’ and a ‘Man of the Living’. The two processions will be full of joy and music coming together in New Road to celebrate the old and new, life and death, embracing its audience in a theatrical delight .
From 8pm New Road will slowly come alive with sculptures, buntings and illuminations. Characters will be giving out wedding invitations in anticipation of the main event, which begins at 11.30pm.
Full details will be available on the White Night website from 1 October - www.whitenightnuitblanche.com and our events calendar.
