The Family Information Service has a School Preference Service to help those parents and carers who may need help in applying for a primary or secondary school place for their child. The service is totally impartial and separate from the Schools Admissions service.

Support can be offered at:

• Group sessions in schools or locations in the community

• One to one meetings with families

• Home visits

What help can the service offer?

The service can help parents and carers to understand the admissions system and policies and the oversubscription criteria for different schools. It can help and advise you with: • Completing the application form, either online or on paper • Ofsted information • Special needs policy and provision • The school’s specialism, if a specialist school • Times of the school day and term dates • Uniform policy • Travel details. You can find out more information from the leaflet below.

Call the Family Information Service on 01273 293545.
