Half-Term Fun
It's half-term next week so lots of the parents and carers in the city will be working hard to entertain their children without it costing them a fortune. With the weather forecast not looking good we've been searching for fun ideas for families to do this half-term. But don't worry as Brighton and Hove has loads to offer for kids big and small!
We've added a wide variety of events to our calendar - such as joining in the celebrations for the Chinese New Year, art sessions and family events at the Brighton Science Festival. To find out more see our events calendar -
Also, we've recently improved our events calendar so that you can now add your own events! So, if there is something that we've missed you can let everyone else know about it - http://www.bhparentsforum.org/node/add/event. (This content will be moderated before it's published).
This year half-term coincides with the start of the Chinese New Year - this year it is the Year of the Tiger. Sunday 14 February is the official day for Chinese New Year 2010 and many libraries across the city are putting on events to celebrate. For full details please see their website - http://www.brighton-hove-rpml.org.uk/WhatsOn/Pages/ChineseNewYearHalf-termEventsFeb2010.aspx
It's great living by the seaside but sometimes we overlook some of the wonderful venues here because we think that they might be overrun with tourists. Now could be a better time to visit them than in the summer plus they may provide some shelter if the half-term weather is on the damp side.
How about the Sea Life Centre? They offer an annual pass (£19.50 for an adult and £15.00 for a child aged 3 - 14) which allows you unlimited entry to the centre for a whole year. It also gives you entry to all other Sea Life centres (excluding the London Aquarium) along with discounts in the café and shop. This pass is a photo card and is valid for the person photographed only so gives an extra level of security and it can be replaced should the card be lost or stolen. For full details please see their website - http://www.sealifeeurope.com/local/index.php?loc=brighton
There is a wide variety of museums in the city - which ones have you yet to visit? If you are you a Brighton & Hove resident living within postcodes BN1, BN2, BN3 or BN41 you can enjoy reduced admission to the Royal Pavilion. From 1 January 2010 to 31 March 2010 charges for Brighton & Hove residents are £4.50 per adult with up to four accompanying children free (additional children £5.20 each). Proof of residency such as a council tax or utility bill is required. For full details of events over half-term and throughout the year see the Royal Pavilion website - http://www.brighton-hove-rpml.org.uk/RoyalPavilion/Pages/home.aspx
There are three major museums in the city - The Brighton, Hove and Booth museums. Admission at these venues is free and they all have events on over half-term suitable for families including Bunting Bonanza, T-Tastic, Mega Beasts and Fabulous Farm (some events may charge for admission). For full details of all events please see the Museum website - http://www.brighton-hove-rpml.org.uk/Museums/Pages/home.aspx

We hope that some of these ideas and events will be of interest to you. Keep checking the events calendar as we will be adding new events right up until the start of the holidays.
This year the Easter holiday is from the 1st-16th April so please let us know if there are any events you would like us to add to the calendar or feel free to add them yourself - http://www.bhparentsforum.org/events/calendar.
