Community Engagement Framework
The 2020 Community Partnership has developed a Community Engagement Framework for the City. The Framework is the key reference for community engagement activity by the 2020 Community Partnership. It sets out the strategic aims and guiding principles for community engagement within Brighton & Hove and the priority actions that need to be taken to improve engagement activity.
The 2020 Community Partnership has developed the Framework in order to: -
- Improve the ways in which citizens and communities can influence and shape services
- Set a common standard for all engagement activity in the City that all partners are signed up to
- Provide more support to communities to resolve their own issues and possibly run services for themselves
- Improve co-ordination of activity in the City between different agencies and avoid duplication of activity, especially consultation
- Help create better quality services that better meet the needs of citizens and communities
- Supplement statutory duties on the Council, the Police and the Primary Care Trust to engage and involve people in the design, delivery and review of services
- Demonstrate that community engagement is not just a buzz word in Brighton & Hove and that there is collective ownership and recognition of its importance.
Attached below is a pdf version of the new Community Engagement Framework for Brighton and Hove, associated background information and a report on the consultation process.
Work is underway to begin implementation of the actions identified during the consultation, and to support the council and other organisations in the city to use the standards set out in the Framework when planning and delivering their own engagement work.
