The Children and Young People's Trust Partnership is a group of organisations throughout the city who are working together to give children aged 0 - 19 yrs and their families the best possible start in life.

The main organisations are:

  • Brighton & Hove City Council
  • Southdowns Health NHS Trust
  • Brighton & Hove City NHS Teaching Primary Care Trust
  • Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust
  • Sussex Police Authority
  • Sussex Connexions

There is also a large representation from organisations in the voluntary and community sector. We are also working in partnership with parents and families.

Services for every family

The Children & Young People's Trust Partnership is redesigning and improving a whole range of services for children, young people and their families. The changes will be done in stages. Part of the first stage includes changes to services for all families with children under five years old.

Everyone in the city will get:

  • A community team
Each community will have a team of midwives, health visitors and support workers. They will get to know your local area and work together to support your local needs.
  • Better information
To help you make the best choices you will get good quality information about local services, childcare, parenting and health advice for you and your family.
  • Family health plan
A plan will be agreed with you to set out what health and other support every member of your family will get and who is going to help you.
  • More support if you need it
Families who have a lot of needs will get more support. If everything is going well you may have less routine contact with the team.

Services provided through community teams

The new community teams will play a big part in delivering services for children and their families. Each community team will:

  • Be accessible
Each family will be given a contact number to call if they need help or advice.
  • See every family
At first every new family will be seen by the team to find out what they need. The team will also contact your family at important times in your child's life.
  • Share information
Team members will share information about you and your family to help them better understand your needs. However, they will only share information if you agree to it first.
  • Work closely with people
The team will talk to local parents in the community and find out what your local needs are.
  • Call in specialist support
The team can bring in the support of specialised staff such as speech and language therapy if needed.
  • Work with your GP
To make sure your health needs are met in the best way.
  • Link with early education & childcare
The team will support groups that see your children every day, such as local play groups, day nurseries and school nursery classes.
